John Dyer is the founder and current patron of the Ajubatus Foundation, with a lifelong passion for Africa’s wildlife and the preservation of endangered species. A businessman, philanthropist, and avid conservationist, John combines an extensive corporate background with decades of conservation leadership.

From his early role as Managing Director of a De Beers offshore subsidiary at age 29, John’s career balanced boardroom responsibilities with a deep commitment to the African wilderness. His conservation journey accelerated during his 11 years as Chairman of Ulusaba Private Game Reserve, where he transformed the reserve into a world-class 5-star game lodge and invested in long-term environmental protection.

Today, as Chairman of the Ajubatus Foundation, John dedicates his time, energy, and resources to creating a lasting legacy in wildlife research, education, and conservation outreach. He works closely with SANParks, Stellenbosch University, veterinarians, and scientists on projects that advance ecological knowledge and inspire future generations. In addition, he lectures in Practical Conservation at Stellenbosch University, where he brings ecology principles and applied research to life for students from South Africa and abroad.

When not lecturing or leading initiatives, John can often be found in his beloved Kruger National Park, continuing his lifelong pursuit of protecting Africa’s natural heritage.
