Sean Dyer joined the Ajubatus Foundation in 2003 as a student, driven by a deep passion for wildlife and conservation. His academic journey led him to complete a BSc in Botany & Zoology through UNISA, complemented by specialist training in the handling and treatment of marine wild birds.

Over the past two decades, Sean has played a key role in expanding the Foundation’s capabilities by combining his knowledge of ecology, technology, and management. With expertise ranging from field research to drone applications, Sean bridges the gap between science and innovation in modern conservation practices.

As General Manager since 2013 and a Director of the Foundation since 2017, Sean oversees the administration, planning, and resource management of Ajubatus. His leadership ensures that the Foundation remains focused on its mission to advance wildlife research, conservation education, and community engagement across South Africa and beyond.

Early Contributions

Joined Ajubatus Foundation in 2003 as a student volunteer.

Completed BSc Botany & Zoology (UNISA).

Completed courses in marine wild bird handling and treatment.

Technology & Research

Appointed IT Technician for Ajubatus Environmental Management (2007).

Contributed to the development of GPS wildlife tracking collars.

Specialist in UAV/Drone applications; Director of Drone Inspired (Pty) Ltd.

Joined Kruger National Park research team (2010), focusing on satellite collar technologies and wildlife monitoring.

Leadership & Management

Appointed Specialist Field Technician, with expertise in wildlife sampling techniques.

Promoted to General Manager of Ajubatus Foundation (2013), overseeing administration, planning, and staff management.

Became Director of the Ajubatus Foundation (2017).
